Jeep wins two FOUR WHEELER Magazine AwardsThe 2020 Jeep® Wrangler Rubicon EcoDiesel and the 2020 Jeep® Gladiator Rubicon have both landed awards from FOUR WHEELER Magazine, the leading off-road publication. The Gladiator Rubicon landed the “2020 Pickup of the Year” award, in its debut year, and the Jeep® Wrangler Rubicon EcoDiesel landed the “2020 SUV of the Year” award.

The judging panel for these awards is made up of FOUR WHEELER staff, and staff from other similar publications such as JP MAGAZINE and 4-WHEEL & OFF-ROAD. The judges have to test all competing vehicles over the course of a week, testing them in various terrains, including rocks, mud, gravel, snow, sand, pavement, and dirt. The testing requires a minimum of 1,000 miles of driving. FOUR WHEELER also tests competing vehicles through several water fording exercises, as well as a loose-dirt hill climb. The vehicles are also tested during the night-time, so judges can compare how efficient each vehicle’s lighting equipment is.

One of the editors from FOUR WHEELER Magazine, Ken Brubaker, had lots of compliments for the 2020 Jeep® Gladiator:

“The new Jeep® Gladiator is the truck many buyers have been waiting for. After a week of testing in a variety of challenging environments, the Gladiator proved that it is all truck and all Jeep, which is a formidable combination. Mix in the impressive Rubicon package that includes Tru-Lok differential lockers, Rock-Trac transfer case with 4:1 low range, front-disconnecting stabilizer bar and full skidplating, and it’s clear the Gladiator is at the front of the class.“

Ken Brubaker then went on to praise the 2020 Jeep® Wrangler Rubicon EcoDiesel:

“The Wrangler is a truly exceptional machine both on- and off-road, and the new-for-2020 EcoDiesel engine option complements the outstanding JL platform. The EcoDiesel’s power and efficiency raise the bar for the already incomparable 4×4, making it even more extraordinary.”

2020 is the first year in which the Jeep® Wrangler is powered by the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine. Boasting 442 lb-ft of torque and an impressive 260 horsepower, complete with standard engine stop-start technology. The 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission pairs with the EcoDiesel to work side-by-side with low RPM shifts and provide a great balance between both on and off-road drives. On top of that, there are more than 40 individual shift maps that allow Jeep® Wrangler owners to optimize their vehicle for fuel economy, performance, and 4×4 capability.

The FOUR WHEELER tests for these vehicles are by invitation only, and they are only open to significantly revised vehicles or all-new vehicles for the upcoming model year.
