Jeep® Gladiator Wins 2020 North American Truck of the Year Award
On Monday, January 13th, the all-new 2020 Jeep® Gladiator was crowned the North American Truck of the Year at the TCF Center in Detroit. This award is among the most prestigious in the industry, due to the fact that the awarded truck is chosen by a panel of 50 respected jurors from online, radio and broadcast media, and print from across the United States and Canada – not just by a single media outlet or publication.
The 2020 Jeep® Gladiator has been engineered from the ground up to make it the most off-road capable midsize truck ever built. It builds on the rich heritage of dependable and tough Jeep trucks, with an unmatched combination of clever functionality and versatility, open-air freedom, rugged utility, authentic Jeep® design, best-in-class towing, and 4×4 payload.
“The Jeep® Gladiator is not only the world’s most capable midsize pickup, it’s now the North American Truck of the Year as well,” said Head of Jeep® Brand – FCA North America, Jim Morrison. “This honor is a testament to our customers who demand the very best and the Gladiator delivers with all of the 4×4 capability and versatility expected of a Jeep® vehicle.”
The 2020 Jeep® Gladiator is powered by the proven 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine and a versatile cargo box. The truck has been built to handle the demands of an active lifestyle, as well as delivering an open-air driving experience, all in a design that is unmistakably Jeep. The Jeep Gladiator is capable of taking people and cargo anywhere. The Gladiator’s appeal is increased with a multitude of technology features, including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, advanced safety features, such as Rear Cross Path Detection, and Blind-spot Monitoring, Forward Collision Warning-Plus, and adaptive cruise control.
The process of selecting the winner for the Truck of the Year award began in June 2019, where a list of eligible vehicles was determined (the Ford Ranger, Jeep® Gladiator, and Ram Heavy Duty were the finalists, competing for Truck of the Year 2020), and then three rounds of voting based on innovation, segment leadership, driver satisfaction, handling, safety, design, and value for the dollar, in order to determine the winning truck.
Lauren Fix, President of NACTOY, said “These awards would not be possible without the hard work, professionalism and insight of all of our jurors along with the cooperation throughout the year from all of the automotive companies,” … “Now in our 26th year, we are proud that both automakers and consumers recognize the value our awards provide to new car buyers.”
